She Took My Love/Swings And Roundabouts
A 2 track funk single (8m 1s) — released June 30th 2008 on Breakin Bread
The Seventh release marks the end of the "Sevens series" from the south london-based club nite/record label. The series has successfully launched the Breakin' Bread label and has paved the way for their forthcoming compilation.
The seventh deadly seven sums up what the "Sevens series" has meant to Breakin' Bread. The small piece of vinyl that you now own is designed for the dancefloor and is a heady mix of funk and hip hop principles.
Side A Color Climax "She Took My Love"
The funk and porn enthusiasts from Coventry have again come up with a storming dancefloor stomper. Following on from the highly acclaimed "Plug it in", the break collecting duo have joined forces with vocalist Gabe to take their sound that little bit further. From the moment that the beat kicks in on top of the Hammond and bass, you know the result is heavy!
"The question is...did she take her love away or did she take the full girth of it?"
Side B Rob Life "Swings And Roundabouts"
It seemed suitable to end the "Sevens series" with a track whose refrain goes "Cold swinging things the way it's supposed to be". Rob takes his sound a bit deeper on this track by getting all musical on your ass! The cuts are left to a sparse minimum and the music is left to speak for itself. Extra depth has been added by drafting in Tom Greenwood on drums and Will Hedges on guitar. The track builds, drops and breaks down all over the place. The funk goes everywhere!
